Antonin Fouques

Android Staff Engineer @ Qonto

I build the banking app European SMEs & freelancers rely on every day. These days I obsess over Jetpack Compose and bringing AI into the Android team. For over a decade I also helped grow the Paris Android community.

AI in the Android team

Bringing AI into how Qonto's Android engineers work: agents, tooling and workflows that make the whole team faster and ship with more confidence.

🧩

The last mile to Compose

Driving the migration of Qonto's 100+ remaining XML screens to Jetpack Compose, modernising a large, real-world codebase without slowing delivery.

What I've built at Qonto

Eight years on one Android app, from the first Compose screen to leading the migrations, tooling and AI that move the whole team forward.

Compose pioneer & the QontoUI design system

2020

Long before Compose was anyone's default, I shipped Qonto Android's first Compose component and first Compose screen, about five months ahead of the next one. I also founded QontoUI, the design-system module and demo app the whole team still builds on today.

Android tech lead on flagship features

2020-25

I've been the Android technical lead on much of what Qonto ships day to day: Account Receivables ("Get Paid"), the Cashflow dashboard, e-invoicing across four countries' regulations, and every strong-authentication flow that keeps accounts safe.

Leading the Money migration

2026

Rounding bugs on money are exactly the 0.1% that quietly erodes trust. I led a small team (plus two custom AI agents I wrote) to move the whole app onto a type-safe Money type, across ~100 pull requests. No more cents-rounding incidents.

Killing the last XML screen

2026

I led the team, up to eight engineers, that migrated our last 86 XML screens to Compose across seven teams, in about eight weeks. We'd estimated twenty-nine. The trick: a self-improving orchestrator skill that got a little sharper with every screen it touched.

HTTP error tracking, everywhere

2023-25

Production issues get cheaper the earlier you spot them. I built an error-tracking framework that surfaces HTTP failures in real time, Sentry to Slack, and rolled it out across twelve teams, then spent a good while tuning out the noise.

Tooling & mentoring that scale past me

Ongoing

The work I'm proudest of multiplies other people. I built a copies-automation tool that cut content designers' workflow by 75% (~600 hours a year), and I've mentored around ten engineers, several onto the staff track.
